Stone and Sky

The unique landforms and architecture encountered during my travels has been a dominant influence on the paintings that I have created. Locations of note are Himalayan mountain villages and the deserts of the U.S. southwest.

In the Ladakh region of India, the terrain is especially dry- ochre yellow and dun colors all around, mountains and buildings alike. I’m captivated by the imposing adobe walls and stark blue skies.

Materials used: watercolor, colored pencil, pigment ink, Himalayan rock salt (to create additional pitted texture)
